Collier Legal Search - Biographies

Kay Kurtin Egger, Attorney at Law and Partner of Collier Legal Search is a 3rd generation Native-Houstonian. Kay graduated in 1986 from Memorial Senior High School. In 1990, Kay received her Bachelor of Arts from Saint Mary's College at Notre Dame in two concentrations: Economics & Government. This academic foundation led her to South Texas College of Law where Kay excelled in T. Gerald Treece's advocacy program earning the distinctive honor of being named into the National Order of Barristers; additionally Kay received the exclusively given Thomas Justin Treece Scholarship. Upon graduation and passage of the Texas Bar Exam in 1993, Kay worked for over 3 years first as a law clerk, then as a briefing attorney, at the litigation firm then known as Fisher, Gallagher & Lewis, LLP. It was at FG&L that Kay practiced the majority of her personal injury litigation career. Soon thereafter, Kay began consistent work as a legal staffing specialist in Houston, Texas. She met and exceeded goals in both production and management. In January 2005, Kay became a partner of Collier Legal Search specifically devoting her time to client development and retention, as well as attorney recruitment and placement.

Mary Claire Carmouche Upton is a fourth generation native Houstonian.  She graduated from Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart in Houston Texas.  She traveled to South Bend Indiana to attend and graduate from Saint Mary’s College at Notre Dame, then received her JD from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas.  After admission to the bar, Mary Claire practiced as a litigator with the Williams Bailey Law firm for almost seven years.  During her tenure at Williams Bailey, Mary Claire focused on Superfund sites, tobacco and other personal injury dockets.  Leaving the practice of law, Mary Claire joined a Fortune 500 staffing company in 2000 where she excelled at placing attorneys and legal staff.  She has gained the confidence and respect of the legal community in Houston and surrounding areas.  In 2006, Mary Claire joined Collier Legal Search. She has extensive experience in working with partners, general counsels, associates and paralegals and provides a wealth of experience and skill to the Collier Legal Search team.

Rose is a 1991 graduate of St. Mary’s University in San Antonio where she received her B.A. in English Literature.  She went on to law school at South Texas College of Law, and graduated in 1994. While at South Texas, Rose was a moot court champion and was actively involved in many legal and service organizations. Upon graduation, Rose began a solo criminal defense practice and later joined the City of Houston Legal Department in 1996.  While there, she handled cases both in the Land Use Division and the Labor Division. Rose was then chosen to join the Legal Services Division of the Houston Police Department and she stayed there until 2001. After taking time off to start a family, Rose jumped back into the legal field in 2005 and became a partner in Media Masters, a company that handles marketing and reputation branding for attorneys and law firms.  Rose continues to consult with Media Masters, while at the same time serving as the Executive Attorney Recruiter for CLS.
